Stephen Brown was born in Chard in 1947. He studied art at the Somerset College of Art and then later in the 1970's he worked alongside influential artist Patrick Larking RP ROI. Larking introduced Stephen Brown to the art works of leading artists as Sickert, George Clausen and Augustus John, all of whom had taught and befriended Larking while he was studying at the Royal Academy of Art.
Today Stephen Brown has developed a highly distinctive art style of his own which has won him many admirers including leading RA artist Ken Howard. He is an elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artist’s (RBA) and produces art prints and limited edition prints which are keenly sought after. He is very much known for his art works which feature the English countryside and coastal scenes, but also has a strong reputation for his paintings of Venice.
Stephen Brown art works have been exhibited widely within the UK. Venues include: the Royal West of England Academy; the Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibitions; Royal Society of British Artist’s and also the Red Rag Gallery.
