Print Artist: Dorothy Bruce

Dorothy Bruce was born in Wisconsin. She studied Fine Art at Minneapolis School of Art, which is now the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She gained her Bachelor of Art in 1958.

Dorothy Bruce has lived in Scotland for over 30 years. Many of her paintings are undertaken in watercolours, but she is equally competent in a range of art media. She is know for her beautiful paintings and limited edition prints of the Scottish landscapes and coastal scenes which are so distinctive.

Dorothy Bruce is fascinated by the continually changing light and the austerity associated with much of the Northern Scottish Highlands. The highlands are a recurring theme in much of her art work. She produces paintings which display wonderful skill and sensitivity and often introduces texture to her paintings.

Dorothy Bruce is an elected member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists, the Paisley Art Institute and the Glasgow Print Studio. She exhibits widely throughout Scotland and her paintings and art prints have been represented in various galleries throughout the UK, including the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. Her paintings and limited edition prints are held in private art collections throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, Philippines, Holland, Germany and the UK.
