David Knight was born in Essex in 1965. He studied fine art at University of Wales Institute Cardiff (BA Fine Art) from 1993 until 1996. He has lived in Wales for most of his life and now lives and works in Cardif.

David Knight is known for his superb paintings of figures and the latest art prints feature some of his best works of figures todate. He has been drawing and painting people for many years and this fascination with the human form has been an ongoing passion to David Knight in his paintings and limited edition prints. He says: "I think the body is a fascinating and beautiful subject to work from, I never get bored of painting it. Once you put a figure in a painting it has an instant narrative without having to try and create one. I hope that my paintings are easy to understand. I don't like trying to explain them away. I think painting should be instinctive, I do not analyse why I paint what I paint - the paintings either work or they do not. My figurative works have some narrative most of the time. I hope my work is beautiful and has some kind of atmosphere."

David Knight is now well established as an outstanding painter of figures. His figure paintings demonstrate a mastery of paint, tone and composition to which many aspire. But David is equally talented as a painter of Still Life subjects and produces fine contemporary art works with a quiet, reflective quality.

David Knight's original art works and limited edition prints are keenly collected and highly prized. His art works can be seen at a number of UK galleries and are much admired. In the year 2000 David was voted 'Peoples Choice' in the Welsh Artist of the year.
