About the artist: David Cobley
Limited Edition Prints and Collectable Art Prints from Global Art Prints
Artist: David Cobley
David Cobley was born in 1954. He has been drawing and painting since early childhood and trained at Northampton and Liverpool Schools of Art, but dropped out of a diploma course at Liverpool in a search of a more meaningful alternative. It was 12 years before he would return to any kind of painting. David Cobley has traveled extensively around Europe and the Far East, living in Japan for almost ten years before returning to the UK. For a number of years he worked as an illustrator, but gradually painting took the place of illustration.
In 1997 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and served as its Honorary Secretary for four years. He is also an elected member of the New English Art Club. His paintings and limited edition prints are largely a result of his fascination with the human form and human behavior.
David Cobley’s portrait commissions include one of The Princess Royal and also a portrait of Ken Dodd OBE which was bought by the National Portrait Gallery, London for its permanent art collection. He has exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and also at other leading UK art galleries including Red Rag Gallery and Messums.
David Cobley art prints are produced using the latest giclée prints technology and are printed on fine art paper using lightfast pigment inks.
