About the artist: David Brayne
David Brayne was born in 1954. He studied art at Nottingham School of Art, Gloucestershire College of Art and Exeter University. He was elected to the Royal Watercolour Society in 2001 and regularly exhibits his apintings at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
David Brayne produces wonderfully lyrical, atmospheric and emotive paintings and art prints. His limited edition prints are notable for their impact. Typically David Bryne art prints contain graceful figures in mystical landscape or seascape settings. There is no defined narrative in his prints and part of the attraction of these highly individual art works is that they encourage the viewer to use their own imagination.
To achieve the beautifully subtle, harmonious colours and fresco-like quality that so distinguishes David Brayne's art work, he uses an interesting combination of dry pigments, watercolour, marble dust and, sometimes also, gold and silver leaf.. With skill and ingenuity Brayne gradually brings each painting to life. He perfectly blends colour and form with the necessary demands of the painting itself. The finished work is the captures the relationship of water, land and figures and is a theme that David frequently explores.
