Becky Mair was born in Chatham, Kent. At the age of ten years her parents moved abroad and started working in the Middle East, and Africa and she spent several years commuting between England and where her parents were living. She initially studied art at Canterbury College of Art and then later completed BA Honours degree in 2004 at the University for the Creative Arts.

Becky Mair has developed her own approach to a technique developed by the artist Jackson Pollock, who she studied whilst at university. Pollock’s unique style has encouraged Becky to produce a fluid, energetic, representational reaction to his work. Working mainly in acrylic paint, ink or domestic emulsion paint, Mair works directly from the tube or paint pot using a stick or tube to flick and direct the paint from a standing position over the paper or canvas.

Becky Mair says: With my art prints I am interested in expressing a sense of power, movement and strength, whatever the subject matter. My aim as an artist is to observe and watch and see through and into the object. I am searching for a different way to represent the familiar.” Becky Mair art prints capture the essence of each animal with a minimal amount of colour and line drawing.
